2011 BX Craftsmanship Award Recipient

The Craftsman:  Clarence “Buddy” Brown of The Superior Group
His Winning Work:   Installation of the electrical feeder system for the main electrical room and the penthouse area at Battelle

Electrician Buddy Brown utilized his experience and creativity while installing the feeder system for the main electrical room and penthouse area at Battelle.

The feeds begin underground with an elaborate duct bank that is routed to the building and directly into the medium voltage switch gear. The feeder distribution continues from the main electrical room to the second floor penthouse and to three additional electrical rooms.

With extensive duct work and mechanical piping consuming most of the available space, Brown and his crew of 57 were forced to route the electrical feeders and branch conduits above and around other mechanical systems.

To execute a flawless installation of the electrical feeder system – even before obtaining shop drawings – Brown carefully planned the layout and coordinated with the other trades.

A member of Electrical Workers Local Union 683, Brown has been in the construction industry for 15 years. He has been employed by The Superior Group for his entire career.

A first-time Craftsmanship Award recipient, Brown was nominated last year for his work in the Central Energy Plant at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. His step-father and brother are also in the electrical trade.
